A SECOND-MINUTE goal from Cam Sanderson was enough to win the York FA Sunday Morning Senior Cup for Acomb Celtic.
Celtic were 1-0 winners over King William in the final at Wigginton.
Sanderson headed home from a corner and first-time finalists Celtic then came under huge pressure from King William.
On 17 minutes, George Bissett almost levelled but man-of-the-match Pete Gent pulled off a one-on-one save. King William’s Danny Gray then had the ball in the net, but his strike from an indirect free-kick was ruled out as it went straight in.
Meanwhile, Tadcaster Magnets beat ten-man Bubwith White Swan 3-0 to lift the York FA Sunday Morning Junior Cup. Magnets added the trophy to the York FA Saturday Junior Cup the club won the previous day.
Bubwith’s Will Nicholson missed a penalty on 32 minutes and the club were dealt another blow when Wes Pears was sent off.
The deadlock was broken on 63 minutes when Magnets’ Matt Howgate crossed from the right for Tom Deighton to score. They went 2-0 up on 70 minutes when a Jon Darnton free-kick beat the Bubwith wall and ’keeper. With two minutes to go, Howgate’s shot was saved, but Deighton knocked in the rebound.
