WHIPPING boys Lincoln Moorlands Railway felt the full force of Tadcaster Albion’s strike power as manager Paul Marshall’s men racked up an 8-1 triumph.

The emphatic triumph consolidated Albion’s position as the nearest challengers to Northern Counties East League premier division front-runners Barton Town Old Boys as well as widening their hosts’ goal difference to a staggering minus 131.

The game was locked at 1-1 at half-time after Danny Critchlow’s opener was cancelled out.

But in the last 28 minutes Albion cut loose with seven unanswered goals. Carl Stewart bagged four, and Mitchell Hamilton and Stuart Rice also netted before Critchlow finished what he had started.

The weather, however, KO’d free-scoring Pickering Town’s push to continue their recent marksmanship spree when their game at Nostell Miners Welfare was called off because of a waterlogged pitch.

Down in the NCEL first division, Selby Town also hit the goal trail in style, vanquishing homesters Appleby Frodingham 5-1.

The game was effectively over by half-time with the Robins 3-0 to the good. On target were Steve Lyon (2), Daniel Gray (2) and Tom Reid.

Knaresborough Town also enjoyed a profitable division one away-day.

They countered from a deficit at Cleethorpes to win 2-1 with a leveller from top marksman Colin Heath and a winner eight minutes from time bagged by Dave Thomas.

The trend to travel well continued with Conference North outfit Harrogate Town.

They too were in first-half arrears at Leamington, but rallied through Ashley Worsfold before a late winner from Connor Sellars who headed home a pass from Adam Bolder.

Ample powers of recovery were displayed by Harrogate Railway Athletic in the Evo-Stik League first division north.

Trailing after just four minutes to visitors Clitheroe, the Rail stormed back to win with three unanswered foals from Nathan Cartman and Colin Hunter, whose brace included a penalty, before the Lancashire outfit managed a late second in what proved to be mere consolation.
