ALBION Vaults are the first team through to the semi-finals of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League’s Senior Challenge Trophy after beating Station 3-1.

Second division Albion dominated the first ten minutes and went 1-0 up with a goal from Chris Harkin.

Top flight Station gradually gained control, but excellent goalkeeping from Daniel Montgomery denied them an equaliser.

They were not to be denied in the second period and levelled the scores when Michael Braithwaite headed home a Gary Collier cross.

Station continued to dominate but were caught on the break twice, first by Harkin when he made it 2-1 with his second of the game and then when Daniel Tame struck.

The other three last-eight ties will be played tomorrow.

Huntington Rovers host Hemingbrough, Severus SC entertain Leeman Utd and King William travel to Wigginton Grasshoppers.

The weather again played havoc with the league fixture list last weekend.

The only game in division two saw Beeswing and York Nomads share the points in a 3-3 draw.

An early Callum McKenzie strike gave Beeswing the lead and Liam Keenaghan doubled the advantage.

Nomads reduced the deficit with a goal from Craig Hargreaves just before the break.

After the restart, Nomads’ Tom Wheatland made it 2-2.

Keenaghan scored his second of the game from the penalty spot to put Beeswing 3-2 up.

However, Nomads substitute Callum Horne came off the bench to earn his side a point.

In division four, third-placed Eggborough Rangers halted their losing run with a draw at second-placed NUR.

Rangers, who are six points adrift of NUR with two games in hand, struck first when Matthew Harker took advantage of a defensive lapse to score the only goal of the first half.

The second period saw both sides create chances but excellent saves from both ’keepers prevented any further score until NUR’s Jordan Burnitt powered home a towering header to make it 1-1.
