SEVERUS boosted their hopes of beating the drop in division one of the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League with a 3-1 win over title-chasing Station.

Lee Jacob gave Severus the lead, but their Selby-based opponents struck back with a goal from Ryan Whitlam before the break.

After the restart, Jacobs scored his second and Jake Moyse then converted a penalty.

A brace from Simon Castle, plus further strikes from Dan Hall, Rob Hart, Josh Tattersall and Liam Summers, helped Dunnington to a 6-4 win at Hounds.

The result moved Dunnington off the bottom of the table.

The home’s sides goals came from Chris Jackson, with a hat-trick, and Alan Jackson.

Ollie Newby scored a second-half hat-trick as division two leaders Leeman United won 6-5 at York Nomads. Danny Coulson and Mike McKenzie (2) were United’s other scorer.

Tom Wheatland netted three for Nomads, for whom Natty Bradley and Matt Hattee were also on target.

Dark horses Huntington Rovers emerged as 12-3 winners at Beeswing.

Rovers are now nine points behind the leaders with four games in hand.

Anthony Evans scored all Wing’s goals, the best being his third when he chipped the ’keeper from distance.

Marcia Grey were promoted from division three without kicking a ball after Tadcaster Magnets’ promotion hopes came to an end when they went down 2-1 at Bishopthorpe United.

Guy Kilner gave the home side the lead on ten minutes, scoring from a corner.

Lee Robinson lifted the visitors’ hopes when he netted to make it 1-1 at the half way mark.

After an even second half, the game was finally settled ten minutes from time when Nick May struck to give the home side the points.

In division four, Marcia Bishopthorpe hammered York Phoenix 11-1.

Stuart Dickenson top-scored for Marcia with six goals. Chris Long hit a brace and there were also goals by Phil Bruce, Andy Noble and Stuart King. John McKenzie hit Phoenix’s consolation goal.
