Dringhouses closed the gap on league leaders Dunnington at the top of the York Minster Engineering League Reserve A division with a 2-1 win over York RI. Liam Roberson and James Robinson hit the target for ‘Houses, with Steve Martin replying for RI.
Wigginton secured third place with a 6-1 thumping of Old Malton St Mary’s. Dale Holding put ‘Hoppers ahead inside the first minute before Michael Clancy doubled the lead from the penalty spot. Danny Lamb added a third with sixteen minutes played before Josh Hutchinson hammered a strike into the roof of the Malton net seven minutes later. Tom Derbyshire added a fifth on the stroke of half-time. A more evenly balanced second half saw Dean Leadill find the net for the home side before Mick Watson came off the bench to complete the scoring from the penalty spot.
In Reserve B, Pocklington continued their drive for promotion with a 3-2 win over Aviva. Mark Benton scored the pick of the games goals with an overhead kick to put Aviva into the lead early on. Bishopthorpe beat Malton and Norton 4-2 in the division’s other game. Malton and Nortons’ goals came from Jim Leach, and captain Nige Allen, on his final appearance for the club.
Matty Bean and Bradley Spink netted for Brooklyn as they defeated Strensall by two goals to one. Tom Wood bagged a spectacular 25 yard effort for the home side.
Nigel Horner (2) and Ben Rowson made the scoresheet for Cliffe as they gained a 3-2 triumph over Bishop Wilton in the Reserve D Supplementary Competition. Tim Hudson and Andrew Healey replied. F1 Racing finished their season in style with four first half goals including a hat-trick from man-of-the-match Craig Hardcastle. Mark Foster bagged the fourth.
In the Supplementary Cup, Tadcaster Magnets won 2-1 at Osbaldwick.
