SCARBOROUGH FC have received offers "in excess" of £4 million for the McCain Stadium, Seadogs chairman Ian Scobbie has revealed.
A deal to sell the self-styled "Theatre of Chips" is likely to be sealed in the next two to three months and Scobbie said the club has had as many as ten inquiries.
Scarborough are selling the Seamer Road ground, and will relocate to a new stadium on the Eastfield Industrial Estate, in order to pay off crippling debts and secure the club's future.
Councillors, at a meeting earlier this month, voted to transfer the covenant on the McCain Stadium - which restricts its use to leisure purposes - to the new ground, giving Boro the cash both build its new home while also paying off creditors.
A meeting of those creditors in the last few days has extended the club's Company Voluntary Arrangement until around May, by which time Boro hope to have finalised their ground sale.
Scobbie said: "We have had offers in excess of £4 million for the sale - about ten in total. Hopefully a deal will be completed in the next two or three months."
The chairman said it would cost about £2.5 million to build the new stadium, while the club owed £1.6 million to creditors. But he was optimistic that the Seadogs, who could have been wound up had the council not agreed to lift the covenant, was now through the worst - barring any planning issues.
