WIGGINTON Grasshoppers eased into the semi-finals of the York FA Sunday Morning Senior Cup with a 7-3 victory over Station, writes Barry Casterton.
Grasshoppers were in charge at the break thanks to goals from Terry Taylor, Jamie Green and a Will Ramsey own goal. Gary Collier scored for visitors Station. Early in the second half, Collier missed a penalty shortly before Tom Derbyshire put Wigginton 4-1 up.
Steve Jarvis and Green extended Wigginton’s lead, before Station pulled goals back through Luke Crowther and Collier.
Green completed his hat-trick in the last minute.
Marcia Grey were 7-5 victors at Drax Athletic, with Alex Day bagging four goals, Tommy Medd two and Leigh Dutton one.
Snaith’s quarter-final tie at home to Dunnington was postponed to this Sunday, when Hounds will host York Wanderers in a delayed last eight game.
The only division one game of the York Sunday Morning League saw a depleted Hemingbrough United side slump to a 13-0 loss at Bubwith White Swan.
Mike Hemingway and Si Houlder netted hat-tricks and Martin Howson scored two followed by goals from Henry Robinson, Jason Carlill, Will Nicholson, Graham Stewart and Ryan Sedman.
In division two, Sam Goodall scored a hat-trick at home for Bishopthorpe but they went down 5-3 to Hambleton.
Brayton cruised into a 3-0 half-time lead at home to Britannia Tadcaster thanks to a brace from Kyle Wilks and a Lambert strike.
But substitute Scott Nicholas slotted home two penalties to inspire his team to a 6-3 victory.
Tadcaster’s other goals came from Joe Smyth, Danny Bass and an Adam Field double.
Division three leaders Cliffe lost 3-2 at Wentworth.
Joe Brennan scored twice in the first half. Luke Durham reduced the deficit but Dom Green extended Wentworth’s lead on the hour mark, before Kieran Dinsdale scored for Cliffe.
Second-placed Haxby United won 4-1 at Selby RSSC with Will Plews (2), Joe Galloway and Jack Green on target.
