MARCIA Grey assumed pole position in division two of the York Sunday Morning Football League after a 5-2 win over NUR.
The win took them above York Nomads Society on goal difference, although both sides have won their opening four games.
Tommy Medd gave Marcia the lead early on before Alex Day doubled their advantage, beating four players and hitting a sweet finish with the outside of his left foot.
NUR responded through Danny Cotton to make it 2-1 before half-time, but Leigh Dutton scrambled the ball home shortly after to regain the away side’s two-goal lead.
Day then hit Marcia’s fourth from 20 yards before James O’Donnell made it 4-2.
Super sub Lee Harris came off the bench and embarked on a mazy 30-yard run to finish off a hard fought 5-2 victory.
Andy Galtree scored for Drax as they gained a point from a 1-1 home draw with York RI.
RI were kept in the game by a string of great saves from goalkeeper Pete Gent.
James Hughes found the net for the away side.
Britannia beat visiting Brayton 8-3.
In division three, Cliffe produced a convincing display to defeat Wentworth 6-0.
Tom Hogg collected a hat-trick, with Scott Birch also finding the net.
Substitute Dan Richardson fired a late brace to complete the scoring.
Roger Lorain's second-half goal proved nowhere near enough for York Phoenix as they sank to a 7-1 defeat at York Medics.
Luke Thornton scored a hat-trick and Greg Chambers netted twice to add to goals from Ben Cresswell and Jack Buchanan.
The heavy rain and a collection of County and FA Cup matches depleted the York Sunday Morning League fixture schedule.
