SELBY Town dropped two points in their promotion push in the Northern Counties East League premier division when being held to a goalless derby draw by Pickering Town.
The Pikes shaded the first half but Selby edged the second period and had a great chance to win the match five minutes from time when a good move put striker Gary Jones in the clear with only the goalkeeper to beat, but the ball rolled wide of the post.
Selby club secretary Tommy Arkley said it was a decent derby contest and, notwithstanding that late chance, a draw was probably a fair result.
It leaves the Robins in fifth place, with Pickering down in 11th.
