HAVE-A-GO Heslington produced the result of the day in the York Leeper Hare Football League premier division.

Looking doomed to be relegated at the beginning of March, Heslington overwhelmed Malton and Norton 5-2 to rack up ten points from their last four games.

Now they now need just a point from their final two games to avoid the drop.

Danny Walters hit two of Heslington's goals with Simon Newby, Stuart Dickenson and Paul Clark sharing the rest. Simon Collins hit both goals for the visitors.

The two main contenders for the top-flight title both scraped 1-0 wins.

Lee Bond scored the only goal at Dringhouses as the hosts beat Old Malton, while Iain Dunn's 15th league goal of the season was just enough for Huntington to see-off relegated Pocklington. It was Huntington's seventh straight win which includes six clean sheets.

Tockwith's Graham Hutchinson continued his goalden' run scoring for the eighth successive game as his side beat Thorpe 5-1. He went on to complete his hat-trick to add to a brace from Ryan Kaye. Shaun Pickles replied from the penalty spot.

Haxby extended their unbeaten run in division one to 19 games with a hard-fought 3-2 victory over struggling Easingwold.

Michael Fox scored twice in the first-half and the win was sealed with an exquisite overhead kick from Kev Butler. Andrew Metcalfe (senior) hit both Easingwold goals.

With Haxby now just one win away from returning to the premier division the battle as to who will join them continues to simmer as both contenders recorded wins.

A Liam Stilgoe penalty was sandwiched between two goals from James Hewittson as Hamilton Panthers beat Elvington 5-1.

But Wilberfoss held on to second place with a 2-1 win at Amotherby. Dean Olley gave the hosts a half-time lead but Foss hit back to take the points with goals from Chris Wills and Danny Johns five minutes from time.

The division's top display was produced by struggling Ouseburn. With no win from their last 14 games they moved out of the relegation zone with a 1-0 success at fourth-placed Riccall. Richard Dwight was the marksman.

Poppleton chalked up their fifth draw in six away games, sharing the spoils 1-1 at Norwich Union.
