SELBY Town kept up their promotion push with a 5-1 demolition of Northern Counties East League premier division basement strugglers Brodsworth at Flaxley Road.

The Robins were quickly on top and took the lead after nine minutes when Adam Russell fired in from 15 yards out. Good goalkeeping kept the visitors in the game but Neil Towler netted Selby's second after 34 minutes when he turned in Lee Dawson's cross.

Russell put Selby three up four minutes into the second-half and completed his hat-trick in the 63rd minute when, after being brought down in the box, he netted the rebound after his penalty was saved.

Tom Matthews made it 5-0 in the 74th minute when he collected a good ball from Christian Fox and finished well before Brodsworth found a consolation in the last minute through Nathan Hill.

Elsewhere, Tadcaster Albion endured a torrid second-half before emerging with a 1-1 draw at Emley in their NCEL division one encounter.

Trailing to a 16th-minute John Wood goal, Albion countered to level through Dave Watson.

After the interval they lost Danny Pitts (hip) and Matt Cressey (suspected fractured cheekbone) to injuries before goalkeeper Tom Ryder had to go off with a back injury.

Outfield player Mark Willoughby donned the gloves for the final minutes for Albion, who nearly nicked maximum points with an Adam Wash effort late on.

Pickering Town beat Maltby Main 3-1 at Mill Lane in the NCEL premier division.
