SCARBOROUGH plunged even further into the Conference North relegation mire after Nuneaton Borough took a 3-1 win away from the McCain Stadium.
The Seadogs, boosted by the return of Jamie Vermiglio from suspension, started the better and Tony Hackworth, Carl Cook and Vermiglio all missed good chances.
But, on 31 minutes, they fell behind when Nuneaton defender Gavin Cowan powered in a header. Ryan Blott had a chance to hit back for Scarborough straight away but could only shoot straight at the goalkeeper.
The Seadogs went 2-0 down 20 minutes after the break when Tom Curtis brushed aside the tacklers and struck the ball off a post.
Boro went on the attack but couldn't get the breakthrough and, with just two minutes remaining, Nuneaton broke and Jay Denny headed in from close range following a scramble.
Blott reduced the deficit immediately, swivelling to net, but the game was already gone.
