The two sides that have occupied the top two positions in the York Leeper Hare League for the last two seasons, slogged out yet another epic battle.

But the duel eventually went the way of defending champions Dringhouses. They kept their hopes alive of retaining the title with a 1-0 home win over old adversaries Huntington Rovers.

Early exchanges belonged to the visitors with only some brilliant saves from 'Houses goalkeeper Richard Sykes denying Huntington, but before the half-time break Dringhouses took the lead when a cross from the left was met with a bullet header from Mark Woodward. It was the first goal Huntington had conceded in almost eight hours.

Dunnington easily extended their unbeaten home run to seven games with a 6-0 thrashing of Old Malton.

Wiggington, who have failed to beat Thorpe in their last five meetings, extracted some revenge as they hammered the Selby side 10-1, with James Vine getting half of the haul. The rest were shared between Terry Taylor (2), Chris Dempsey, Ben Coates, and Danny Palmer. Deans Wood hit Thorpe's solitary goal.

Simon Collins hit his 21st league goal of the season but his Malton & Norton side were beaten 3-1 by Kartiers.

Wilberfoss needed a late Danny Johns penalty to maintain their division one promotion hopes as they drew for the second time this season with Poppleton.

They had led at the break from a Johns free-kick but Leon Sacks levelled from the spot and they conceded an own goal before salvaging a point with the penalty.

Hamilton Panthers are still in the hunt for promotion as they made it six straight wins with a 3-0 triumph at relegation-haunted Stamford Bridge with goals from Jamie Moore, James Hewittson and Tom Read.

Elvington inched their way out of the drop zone as they drew 2-2 at home to Bishopthorpe with the visitors' equaliser coming in the fourth minute of injury-time to deny Elvington, whose Simon Gatenby and Tom Hovington were on target.

Rufforth remain rooted at the foot of the table despite getting a point at Norwich Union. Phil Jones gave Rufforth the lead but it was cancelled out by Glyn Welsby.

Riccall hit two goals in the final ten minutes, the first from Stuart Winter, the second from Andy Tinge at Amotherby to record a 2-0 win, their sixth consecutive success on the road.
