SCARBOROUGH were relegated from Conference North after they were held to a 1-1 draw by Leigh RMI at the McCain Stadium.
Boro had to win to keep their survival hopes alive and they took the lead on the half hour through Jimmy Beadle's firm header following Lee Cartwright's corner.
For a long time, the goal looked to be enough to keep the Seadogs in the hunt until the final week of the season, but the dream was ended with just eight minutes remaining when Kevin Rapley slotted home a penalty to grab a point for Leigh.
Relegation means Scarborough, providing they can resolve their off-the-field financial difficulties, will be lining up in the UniBond League premier division next season.
