HARROGATE Town's woeful run continued as they fell out of the Conference North play-off places after a 2-0 defeat at Droylsden, writes Steve Carroll.
Steve Halford and Terry Fearns scored in each half at the Butchers Arms ground to secure Droylsden the title and a place in the Nationwide Conference next term and leave Town hoping that others slip up if they are to compete in the play-off shake-up.
The opening goal came on 35 minutes when Halford flicked home after a free-kick into the box.
Town had a goal disallowed, ten minutes after the break, Chris Ellerker heading home only to see an assistant referee's flag raised for off-side.
Colin Hunter wasted a chance before, with six minutes left, Fearns netted from the penalty spot after Ellerker was judged to have tripped Steve Daly.
Harrogate must now beat Worcester City at Wetherby Road next week and hope results are in their favour if they are to steal a play-off spot.
