LUCK was never in for Bubwith against College of Law in the York Sunday Afternoon League Presidents trophy final.

Within a minute of the kick-off Bubwith's Greg Nesbitt fell and broke and dislocated his ankle. The game was halted while he was taken to hospital.

When the match eventually re-started Bubwith dominated, but a goal in the 12th minute by Matthew Inman for opponents College of Law ensured that College retained the President's Trophy, which was presented to the winners by league chairman Dave Sempers.

The stricken Nesbitt, meanwhile, is recovering and was expected to return home from hospital tomorrow.

Meanwhile, a James Windle penalty, plus strikes from John Wormald, Joshua Tattersall and Calvin Barlow and two own goals ensured that Dunnington beat College of Law 6-2 to finish the division one campaign almost certain of a runners-up place.

To deprive them, Bubwith would have to score 36 or more goals against St John's College.

In division two, FTR Burnholme shaded hosts Harrogate Town CFC 3-2 for only their second win of the season. Robert Plewes struck twice, but failed to get a hat-trick after he missed a penalty. Spencer Sutton also scored.
