CLIFTON FC wrapped up the York Sunday Afternoon Football League double with a 3-1 victory over Dunnington in the League Cup final.
The game was delayed by 15 minutes due to the heavy traffic around Malton Road and when the game did kick off, it was Dunnington who started the better side.
Both teams missed chances in a goal-less first half but Clifton, champions for the last five seasons, came out firing in the second half.
Clifton broke the deadlock in the 63rd minute Paul Bedingham and Richard Bedingham added the second four minutes from the end when he went through the middle of Dunnington's defence and deftly chipped the goalkeeper.
Kevin Butler made it 3-0 to seal the victory for Clifton who hope to pick up their third trophy of the season when they take on Huntington WMC in the York FA Sunday Afternoon Cup on Sunday.
The referee for the League Cup final was D Innes and trophy was presented by Sunday Afternoon League secretary Dave Craggs.
In league action, St John's College signed off their division one campaign with a 6-2 victory over Bubwith White Swan.
Stephen Danby (2), David Allington, Daniel Cowton, Matthew Cox and Steven Day netted for the students, who prevented prevented Bubwith from taking second spot, which now goes to Dunnington. Bubwith's goalscorers were Peter Taylor and an own goal.
The game between College of Law and Huntington WMC was postponed because Huntington have been suspended by the North Riding County FA.
A Chris Hodgson hat-trick and David Allan (2) gave Kings Head a 5-1 win against Woodthorpe Tree Diamonds which wrapped up the division two title. Christopher Hudson scored Woodthorpe's consolation.
AFC Huntington ended Copmanthorpe's chances of taking the title.
Miguel Ponte (2), Luke Smith (2) and Alexander Sam Cross were on target in Huntington's 5-4 victory. Philip Smith, Jake Moyse, Michael Flinders and Tom Settle netted for Copmanthorpe.
Walnut Tree cancelled their game with Harrogate Town CFC who were awarded the points.
