LEADERS Haxby United were held 1-1 at home by struggling Thorpe in the Leeper Hare York Football League premier division.

The table-toppers were indebted to 'keeper Mark Phillips for extending their unbeaten run to 13 games, as he produced three exceptional saves to deny Thorpe their first away win outside of Selby in almost 12 months.

Darren Branden's ninth goal of the season gave Haxby the lead, but the second half belonged to Thorpe.

Had it not been for the sheer brilliance of Phillips, Thorpe would have had more than Craig Pickles' goal to show for their efforts.

Tockwith were the only side in the top six to take maximum points.

They fell behind to a Jimmy Clamp goal at Hamilton Panthers, but scored twice in the second half through Stuart Dickinson to win 2-1.

Wigginton Grasshoppers, who have won on their last three league visits to Dunnington, found themselves two goals down early into the second half.

But they salvaged a point with goals from James Vine and Danny Franks.

Grant Bulmer and Tom Richardson were on target for Dunnington.

Nestlé Rowntree recorded their first away win in ten games as they won 2-1 at Malton & Norton.

Paul Noon gave the visitors a first half lead and Simon Gatenby doubled the advantage on 68 minutes.

The hosts snatched a fortuitous own goal three minutes from time.

Old Malton stretched their unbeaten run into double figures after a 2-2 draw at Kartiers.

Simon Cooke opened the scoring just before the break, but the Selby side levelled through Jon Page and took the lead with a Andrew Woodhall penalty five minutes from time.

Young Robert Pinder marked his debut for Malton with an equaliser two minutes later.

York St John equalled their best away result in the premier division as they thumped Dringhouses 5-1.

Tim Aspinall scored twice to add to goals from Mike Cresswick, Martin Butterworth and Graham Bell.

Mark Woodward pulled a late goal back for the hosts.
