PROMOTION-CHASING Selby Town have been set a stiff target for the Northern Counties East League premier division run in.

Robins assistant boss Gary Cygan admitted the club cannot afford to drop any more points if they are to realise their dream of a place in the UniBond League next season.

The quest for a maximum points return continues with tomorrow's visit of Long Eaton to Flaxley Road, where the hosts have been less than impressive this season.

In 11 home games, Selby have collected a mere 13 points while amassing a total of 28 points away from home.

Said Cygan: "We have done better away from home this season.

"Our last game at home against Lincoln Moorlands was a 3-3 draw and we need to get back on track with our home form.

"We've got to win every game until the end of the season to have any chance. Even then, we would be relying on others to drop points."

The Robins can take heart from a 2-0 midweek home win over Borrowash in the League Cup third round.

Brenton Leister scored twice to put Selby through and with 13-goal midfielder Christian Fox doubtful with an ankle injury, they will need him to maintain that form.

Pickering Town, one of three teams vying with Selby for elevation to the UniBond League, are back in league action after their FA Vase adventure ended at Merstham last weekend.

Manager Mark Wood gave his squad the week off after their Surrey trip ahead of tomorrow's home fixture with Nostell Miners Welfare.

Chairman Tony Dunning said: "We've got 18 games to go and we want to get back to winning again. It seems a while since we played in the league and this will be a tough one.

"We drew 1-1 away in the league and they knocked us out of the President's Cup, but that was early season and we are a different side now."

He added: "Hopefully, we will get a good crowd. There is a lot of interest in the club in the town at the moment. Now we've got to keep it going."

Midfielder George Rose is serving the second match of a three-match ban.

Tadcaster Albion have a free week in division one, while Scarborough travel to Dinnington.
