STEVE LYON grabbed a hat-trick as Selby Town stormed into the third round of the Northern Counties East League President’s Cup.
Town, seventh in the premier division, saw off division one promotion hopefuls Emley 5-0, with the other goals coming from Duncan Bray and Marcin Wolski. Lyon, son of manager Bob Lyon, got his third goal in the penultimate minute.
Pickering Town’s five-match winning run shuddered to a halt with a 4-0 premier division defeat at Armthorpe Welfare, who rose to second in the table.
Lucky Tadcaster Albion saw off lowly division one rivals Rossington Main in the Wilkinson Sword Trophy third round – but needed a last-minute equaliser and then penalties to do so.
Darren Brandon scored a 90th-minute equaliser as normal time ended 2-2, Danny King having pulled a goal back after Main had gone 2-0 up early on. Alan Jackson put Albion ahead nine minutes into extra time and, although Main levelled the scores as Steven Jeff put into his own goal five minutes from the end, Taddy went on to win the shoot-out 5-4.
