AWAY sides prospered in the quarter-finals of the York Minster Engineering Football League Senior Cup.

Holders Dunnington lost 2-1 at home to Wilberfoss, with James Gore and John Head scoring the ’Foss goals.

They will now meet York RI in the semi-final tonight.

RI beat Post Office 4-0 in their last eight tie thanks to goals from Shaun Stockdale, Darren Sellars, Carl Shepherd and Lee Powell.

Kartiers were the round’s top scorers as they hit nine unanswered goals past a shell-shocked Nestlé.

Louis Blackwell bagged four to add to a Macci Wolski hat-trick and goals from Glen Littlewood and Gareth Roberts.

They will meet Tadcaster Albion in the other semi-final after goals from Matthew Howgate (2), Brad Dowling (2), Marcel Edwards and Tom Deighton eased Albion to a 6-0 win at Huntington.

In the Junior Cup quarter-finals, 2006 winners Osbaldwick beat Barmby Moor 4-3 with the help of a hat-trick by Chris Thompson.

They will now meet Heslington, who defeated Crayke 5-3.

A league and cup double is still on the cards for St Clement’s or Strensall, who will contest the second semi-final tonight.

Division two champions St Clement’s trailed to a Robb Orr penalty at home to Wheldrake, but Scott Nicholas levelled and Jordan Hornby hit the winner.

Strensall, division three winners, were in front inside two minutes against Elvington through Lee Lyons and went on to win 4-1.

Lyons got a second and Liam Winfield and Mick Pipe also netted.

In the league, Selby RSSC’s 4-2 win at White Horse Church Fenton earned them the second promotion place in division two.

Easingwold won the reserve ‘B’ title after a 7-0 win over Ouseburn.

Simon Wilson and Andrew Metcalfe Junior both scored twice.
