Local rivals Cliffe FC and Hemingbrough United have combined to create a pre-season cup competition for football clubs in the Selby area.
Nine local teams will compete in next month’s inaugural tournament, sponsored by local goods supplier Live4Soccer.
The event is the brainchild of Cliffe FC manager Keith Tiplady and Hemingbrough United boss Simon Brooks, who were both seeking competitive fixtures before the start of the new season in September.
The charity Hands of Hope will also be attending the games looking to raise funds, while the tournament will culminate on Monday, August 30, at Thorpe United FC.
Cliffe FC, Hensall Athletic, Thorpe United, Bubwith, Selby Olympia, Hemingbrough United, Drax Sports, Selby RSSC and Wheldrake FC are the teams involved, with fixtures kicking off on August 7.
For further information visit the competition’s website at www.SelbyCup.com, which will be launched once the competition begins.
