Goal-happy Pickering Town booked their place in the preliminary round of the FA Cup with an assured 4-0 win over Formby.

James Drinkall opened the scoring for the Pikes before former Selby Town striker Adam Wash added two more and a Gavin Dickenson wonder free-kick made it 4-0.

The easy triumph could have been bolstered further but for two disallowed goals, but the margin of victory was more than enough to set up a home tie with New Mills on September 2.

Selby Town are still in the running for an FA Cup appointment on the same day - but they must first topple Morpeth in a replay after being held in a Flaxley Road thriller.

North East visitors Morpeth went ahead inside 12 minutes and held it into the half-time break.

Selby regained parity thanks to a cool Andrew Hart penalty after Richard Whitfield was brought down.

But the break that came next was far from lucky for Town defender Andrew Dawson as he was stretchered off with a suspected ankle fracture.

Steve Lyon replaced him in the 12-minute injury delay and Morpeth again went in front.

Selby's Lee Dawson levelled and Lyon pounced for what looked like the winner, only for the 12-minutes added on that gave David Turner the time to force a replay tomorrow night.

Under-strength Tadcaster Albion crashed 6-0 in their FA Cup extra preliminary round tie at Retford Town.

Jim Collis' Northern Counties East League division one side were missing seven players - five on the sick list and another two suspended - and debutant goalkeeper Matt Wilson was given a harrowing time.

He was beaten after just 30 seconds by Barbados international Neil Harvey, who went on to score four with former York City striker Peter Duffield and Gary Wright adding the others for the NCEL premier division outfit.
