SEVERAL surprises graced the first round of the Junior Cup.
They were led by Melbourne’s win over division two side Crayke, where Paul Hunter hit the only goal of the game.
Meanwhile, division four side KS Polonia beat York FA Cup winners Fulford United 2-1.
Rudolf Bolca’s opening goal for the hosts was cancelled out by Sam Harrison before Patrick Smicski hit their winner. The Polish side will now travel to Osbaldwick in the second round after Nick Morton and Paul Crangle both scored late goals to defeat Wheldrake 2-0.
Bishop Wilton missed a late penalty to deny them a Cup shock as they lost 3-2 at F1 Racing despite Pete Powell giving the visitors an early lead.
The hosts’ goals came from George Trifan (2) and Danny Rogers effort with Simon Gornall hitting Bishop Wilton’s second.
John Cooper hit a hat-trick for Strensall to erase a Liam Peverley opener for visitors Bubwith.
Late strikes from Daniel Whitcombe and Alex Nockles saw Rufforth beat Fox 2-0.
