EASINGWOLD Town were relegated from the York Minster Engineering Football League premier division after a 4-1 defeat at home to York St John.
Town bowed out after only one season in the top flight as the students’ win secured their own premier division status.
The visitors led at the break and although Mark Coulson restored parity early in the second half, a penalty miss followed by a handful of wasted chances allowed the students to inflict a tenth successive home defeat on Easingwold.
York RI extended their unbeaten home run to six games after they had a comprehensive 5-0 win over runners-up Dunnington.
Lee Powell took his tally for the season to 20 with a brace to add to a goal from Dave McNichol and penalties from Darren Sellars and ’keeper Carl Welsh.
Tadcaster Albion wrapped up their season with a 5-3 home win over Hamilton Panthers.
Carl Stewart hit a hat-trick and Sam Farthing a double for Taddy, while the Panthers scorers were Mark Willoughby (2) and Lloyd Crawford. Wilberfoss ended their season on a high as they registered their first away win in ten attempts.
They won 6-2 at Haxby with both Olly Newby and John Head hitting a hat-trick.
Ben Janes and Gareth Dickenson netted one apiece for Haxby.
Terrington Glory have lifted the division two championship after nearest rivals Amotherby & Swinton suffered two defeats at the hands of White Horse.
In the first encounter, two goals from Dave Marshall helped to set up a 2-1 win for the Church Fenton side.
Mikey Brown’s 23rd goal of the season was Amotherby’s only response.
In the second game, White Horse won 1-0, with Martin Land the match winner.
Despite losing both fixtures against White Horse, Amotherby have still won promotion to division one ahead of Heworth.
Heworth could have pipped them to the runners-up spot, but they lost 4-2 at Strensall in their final game.
Strensall, unbeaten in their previous eight games, led at the interval with goals from Andy Hiley and Danny Mason.
Ben Clarke and James Dexter levelled in the second half, but further goals from Liam Morrison and Shaun Lyons, from the penalty spot, saw Strensall gift wrap promotion for Amotherby.
Fulford United kept their division three promotion hopes alive with a 3-0 win at Elvington.
Sam Harrison opened the scoring for Fulford with Murray McCluska doubling their lead.
Fulford’s unbeaten run of eight was confirmed with an exquisite individual goal from Danny Brown.
A win in their final game against Osbaldwick tonight will see Fulford promoted at the expense of Aviva.
