DIVISION one champions Wigginton Grasshoppers beat Easingwold Town 4-2 in round one of the York Minster Engineering Football League Senior Cup.

Grasshoppers, who will replace relegated Town in the premier division next season, saw Ben Coates miss two first half penalties.

However, Wiggy then scored three times in the first ten minutes of the second half through Matt Tiplady, Tom Coates and Ben Coates.

Easingwold reduced the arrears with goals from Dave Adams and Angus Ferguson, but Tom Coates sealed the win five minutes from time.

Hemingbrough were no match for Dunnington as the premier division runners-up coasted to an 11-0 win which included hat-tricks for Michael Duckworth and Matty Wain.

Huntington Rovers won 3-1 at Old Malton with first-half goals from Pete Laidlaw (2) and Gary Smith. Dean Nuttall pulled a goal back for Old Malton. Poppleton trailed 2-0 at home to Tadcaster before Alex Janes and Atilla Szekeres sent the game into a penalty shoot-out, which Pop won.

Riccall left it late in their tie with Copmanthorpe as Gary Collier hit the only goal three minutes from time.

Lewis Bootland hit a hat-trick for St Clement’s in a 5-1 home win over Nestlé.

Division one Tockwith lost 4-2 at York RI. The RI goals were shared between Mark Woodward, Carl Shepherd (2) and Stuart Nichol.

York St John booked their place in the next round after goals from Shaun Clarke (3), Carl Rogers and Josh Hind (2) gave them a 6-1 win over Selby RSSC.

Four of the ties in the Junior Cup were resolved by penalties.

Division three champions Cliffe missed out on spot-kicks after a goalless draw at division two Amotherby.

Osbaldwick, of division two, were held 0-0 by division four outfit KS Polonia but the Polish side won 5-4 on penalties.

Huby drew 1-1 at White Horse and then lost 3-2 on penalties.

Selby Olympia crashed 4-3 in a shoot-out with F1 Racing.

Lee Bunce hit a hat-trick as Heworth won 5-2 at Rufforth, while Melbourne lost 7-0 to Heslerton.
