A NEWLY-FORMED York Railway Institute team are joining the Ian’s Cars of Barlby York Sunday Morning Football League.
The New Lane-based side has been born out of the success of Post Office Social Club, who have swept all before them in the Football Mundial six-a-side Monday night league at York College.
The team won the premier division and the cup competition, sparking the enthusiasm and interest to form an 11-a-side Sunday league outfit.
Daryl Bateson, one of the organisers, said: “I have been involved in coaching junior sides at RI for ten years and they have not had a senior Sunday side in that time.
“I asked people at the club and they were glad for us to start a new team. In the seniors, they have only got a first team and reserves in the York Minster Engineering League.”
RI are on the lookout for a goalkeeper and anyone interested in joining the club should phone Bateson on 07914 452485.
