PICKERING Town goalkeeper Toby Wells was put through his paces Premier League style – by the man who worked with former Dutch international Edwin Van Der Saar.
Manchester United goalkeeping coach Jack Robinson attended a training session with Pikes boss Pete Vasey and his men at Malton Community Sports Centre last Saturday.
Wells was given a 45-minute one-to-one before Robinson manned one of the goals as Northern Counties East League side Pickering went through a possession game to end the session.
Vasey said: “Jack put Toby through his paces and, when I saw him, he was bent over and struggling for oxygen. We all came together at the end and Jack gave his overview.
“It was an invaluable experience and he doesn’t want it to be a one-off. He wants to come back and, overall, it was very worthwhile. Jack was very down to earth and a great lad – a real delight to work with.”
