FORMER England manager Steve McClaren returned to his home city to open the new all-weather football pitches at York’s Canon Lee School.
The 51-year-old, former Middlesbrough and Nottingham Forest boss, who managed the national team from August 2006 to December 2007 and was assistant to Sir Alex Ferguson in Manchester United’s triple year of 1999, ran the rule over the Rawcliffe-based school’s footballers during a tournament at the new facility.
McClaren is now in charge of Dutch side FC Twente.
