Former champion hurdler Rock On Ruby may be conspicuous by his absence from the declared runners in today’s featured novices’ chase at Doncaster, but his regular jockey Noel Fehily may find himself aboard the winner in any case.

With trainer Harry Fry electing to keep Rock On Ruby back for another day, he is instead relying on Karinga Dancer, the mount of Fehily and a winner on the course last month.

The eight-year-old is a very useful prospect over the major obstacles. His winning debut here was achieved in very comfortable fashion after he was left clear when his closest challenger came to grief at the third-last fence and he crossed the line with nearly four lengths after not being asked a serious question.

Karinga Dancer has a 6lb penalty to carry, but that should not stop this 145-rated performer from winning again – and filling the gap left by his stablemate.

Norton trainer John Quinn saddles Forced Family Fun in the Pegler Yorkshire Handicap Hurdle.

Brian Hughes’ mount has won one of his two completed starts over hurdles and was second at Ffos Las on his latest start.

Quinn is wasting no time switching this lightly-raced novice into handicap company, but Forced Family Fun looks fairly weighted and is capable of going well, provided his inexperience doesn’t count against him.

Nicky Henderson has good prospects of winning both divisions of the 1stsecuritysolutions@co.uk Maiden Hurdle.

The Lambourn trainer runs Nordic Quest, a good third at Huntingdon on his debut over hurdles, in the first leg and Act Alone, who showed a good level of form in two bumpers, and who returns after nearly eight months off, in the second division.

Diamond King is fancied in the Download The All New freebets.co.uk Novices’ Hurdle.

A well-regarded and unbeaten bumper horse last season, Donald McCain’s gelding made a winning start over hurdles at Wetherby and was unlucky not to follow up under a penalty at Bangor where two mistakes, including a particularly bad blunder at the last, cost him dearly. Compensation should be forthcoming.

At Kempton, Ryedale apprentice George Chaloner can click with Dance For Georgie for the second time in three days in the Winners Are Welcome At Betdaq Fillies’ Handicap.

Trained at Middleham by Ben Haslam, Dance For Georgie won with Chaloner on board at Wolverhampton on Monday. She escapes a penalty here for that win in an apprentices’ race.

The nap vote goes to Expose in the £500 Free Bets At Betdaq Handicap over five furlongs.

Previously trained by William Haggas and now with Michael Appleby, Expose was a winner after more than a year off at Lingfield last month. A follow-up is on the cards off only a 2lb higher mark for this six-year-old, who used to be rated 10lb higher when based in Newmarket.

The consistent Lady Lunchalot (4.10) and hat-trick seeking Odin (7.10) are two others to note.
