NORTH Yorkshire trainer Mark Johnston, who is sending out winners galore at the moment, can add to his burgeoning tally at Wolverhampton this afternoon with Sir Frank Morgan.
The four-year-old, who missed the whole of last year, shrugged off his lengthy absence in style on this course last week when winning in clear-cut fashion.
Sir Frank Morgan turns out quickly in the 32Red Handicap and although burdened with a 6lb penalty, is fancied to follow-up under Joe Fanning, the number one jockey for Johnston.
Anthony Carson, son of legendary jockey Willie Carson, does well with his small string and the trainer can hit the target with Kasbhom in the Download The Ladbrokes App Handicap.
The four-year-old won here on his first run of the year and has since shaped well to finish a close-up third Lingfield.
Back at Dunstall Park, Kasbhom can return to winning ways in the hands of the trainer’s son William Carson.
Nawton trainer David O’Meara may have found a good opportunity for Canon Law in the Ladbrokes Handicap.
The four-year-old has finished placed in both his outings this season. He can make it third time lucky under Danny Tudhope.
George Buckell is creating a good impression as a 7lb claimer and the apprentice can shine once again in the Coral Racing Handicap on India’s Song, trained by his Newmarket boss, David Simcock.
Nothing if not consistent, India’s Song has run two good races in defeat since winning at LIngfield. She is entitled to go close here with Buckell’s riding allowance giving her an added plus.
Also worth noting at Wolverhampton are recent course winner Royal Alcor (5.30) and the in-form Arabian Heights (6.00), who looks capable of defying a 6lb penalty.
Over the sticks at Southwell, Super Lunar gets the vote in the Bet totequadpot With totepool Maiden Hurdle.
Trained by Alan King, the five-year-old shaped well to finish third at Warwick on his reappearance last month. That outing will not have been wasted on him after such a long absence and he should strip fitter.
Denis O’Regan can get off to a good start aboard Memorabilia in the opening Bet toteplacepot With totepool Handicap Chase. John Ferguson’s six-year-old has yet to race this term, but he ended last season with a gutsy win at Doncaster. There may be more to come from him.
The totepool Claiming Hurdle looks a good opportunity for Waltz Darling to oblige for Keith Reveley and his jockey son James.
The six-year-old, a former useful Flat horse, came good in similar company at Catterick last time when winning by five lengths. A follow up is on the cards.
Two others worth keeping on the right side of are nap selection Carpincho (2.35), who looked to be coming back to form at Leicester last time, and the promising Mighty Minnie (5.10).
