MALCOLM Jefferson, out of luck at the Scottish National meeting at Ayr on Saturday, after a purple patch of winners over jumps lately, switches his attentions to the Flat at Southwell tomorrow.

The Norton trainer saddles I'll Do It Today in the skybetvegas.com Casino Race Handicap over two miles and Tom Eaves's mount is fancied to prevail.

On his latest start, I'll Do It Today showed a battling attitude to get home by half-a-length from Toni Alcala in a similar race at Catterick.

Raised only 2lb for that win, he has good prospects of obliging again for his dual-purpose trainer.

Richard Fahey can also feature on the Southwell scoreboard. The Malton handler has a fighting chance with both his runners, Woqoodd and Lafontaine Bleu in the opening Play Poker At skypower.com Handicap and preference is for the latter, the mount of Tony Hamilton.

A decent juvenile last season, Lafontaine Bleu may have needed her first outing at Musselburgh recently.

Tomorrow's return to six furlongs should suit her too.

Blythe Spirit can be another winner for Fahey in the 846 Selling Stakes. Jamie Moriarty's mount has a better overall profile than the majority of his rivals and will be well suited by this seven furlongs.

Mark Johnston can lift the Sky Bet Freephone Handicap with Dee Cee Elle. The three-year-old made an ecouraging return to action at Beverley last week when short-headed by It's Moon. Quick compensation awaits her.

Middleham-based Johnston can also be on the mark at Folkestone with another horse who ran well at Beverley's opening meeting last week.

Letham Island failed by only three-quarters of a length to get the better of the unbeaten Ten A Penny. He is fancied to go one better in the Mext Meeting May 3rd Handicap.

Tamino is awarded the nap vote in the Ladbrokes Handicap.

Trained by the in-form Hughie Morrison, the four-year-old has proved himself a pretty able sprinter on his day and looks the type to begin coming into his own this season.

He can make a successful return to action, probably at the main expense of Willhewiz, who finished a good second at Bath last week.

Milton Bradley complicates matters by saddling a trio of runners in the folkestone-racecourse.co.uk Apprentice Handicap.

Preference is for new recruit Briery Lane, a previous winner over six furlongs, who looks the type to do well for Bradley this season.
