Fulford, who did a good turn for York trainer Mel Brittain and apprentice jockey Mark Lawson when winning at Southwell last week, returns to the same course this afternoon with every chance of doubling his tally.
The three-year-old ran out a gutsy scorer on his latest start, gaining a half-length success over Cape Of Storm. That victory ended a frustrating barren spell for Brittain, which had spanned several months, while Lawson was notching his first winner since being sidelined with a badly broken collarbone in a fall at Musselburgh last September.
Fulford, who looked on good terms with himself last week, has a 6lb penalty to overcome in the Gr8 Deals At pontins.com Handicap, again over six furlongs. He should make a bold bid.
Stillington trainer David Chapman, who hands over to his granddaughter Ruth Carr on February 1 after more than 40 years as a trainer, saddles recent winner Autumn Charm in the Book Tickets Online Claiming Stakes.
Chapman bought this filly for only 4,100gns out of a selling race here in December and was delighted to see her oblige in claiming company last week. Clearly tough, Autumn Charm has a good chance of winning again, with Newmarket-based Liam Jones again taking the mount.
Langton trainer Nigel Tinkler has snapped up the sevices of Seb Sanders to partner Safebreaker in the Be Beside The Seaside At Pontin's Handicap over a mile. Having broken his maiden on this course a month ago, Safebreaker has already shown his ability to act on this Fibresand surface.
Even with top weight to carry this afternoon, he is napped to deliver again under joint champion jockey Sanders, whose booking for the three-year-old looks significant.
Jane Chapple-Hyam has been enjoying a fine run with her Newmarket-based string and Clear Reef, successful on his last two visits to Southwell, looks set to complete a hat-trick in the Treat The Family At Pontin's Handicap.
The four-year-old, having taken time to settle into racing, has struck form with a vengeance lately and is clearly well suited to this track. This event looks another winning opportunity for him.
Chapple-Hyam also has excellent prospects of making her mark on the same course tomorrow with Legend Erry in the Book Pontin's Handicap over two miles.
John Egan's mount relished this surface nine days ago when running out a wide margin 16 lengths winner.
It is no surprise to see him turning out under a 6lb penalty as the handicapper will probably put him up by double that amount when he reassesses him this week. The four-year-old will be very hard to beat in his follow up bid.
Starcross Maid is another recent course winner with strong claims of obliging again.
John Coupland's mare bolted home by five lengths here last week and, if in similar mood tomorrow, should not be troubled to make light of a 6lb penalty. Paddy Mathers again takes the mount on the nap selection.
