Mark Johnston, aiming to strike while the iron is hot, can gain his second success with Boomtown in under a week at Lingfield tomorrow.

The North Yorkshire trainer, whose massive Middleham-based Flat operation, runs seven days a week, 52 weeks a year, produced Boomtown to post a wide margin win at Wolverhampton six days ago.

The three-year-old ran out a decisive six lengths winner under Greg Fairley, Johnston's champion apprentice, who takes the mount again tomorrow.

The handiapper will doubtless raise Boomtown's rating by a hefty margin, as a result of his latest victory, so it is no surprise to see Johnston saddling him here under a standard 6lb penalty. He will be hard to beat in the Let Us Entertain You At Pontin's Handicap.

Johnston and Fairley also have good prospects with Baan in the Play Golf At Lingfield Park Handicap, but this five-year-old is not easy to win with and he may have to settle for a supporting role once more, perhaps, on this occasion, behind Kindlelight Blue.

The four-year-old is particularly effective on this course and has won on two of his last three visits, his most recent success coming when he dead-heated with Mutamaasek in a blanket finish a fortnight ago. He should make a bold bid to extend his admirable course record.

The nap vote is awarded to Longoria in the lingfieldpark.co.uk Claiming Stakes.

Mick Quinlan's three-year-old got off the mark at Southwell two starts back and has since run well in defeat at Wolverhampton. Neil Callan is a positive booking for Longoria, who may well aim to make all the running over this seven furlongs race.

There is little that Smokin Beau does not know about racing and Nick Littmoden's popular veteran should be hard to catch in the arenaleisureplc.com Handicap over five furlongs.

Winner of 18 races in his long career, Smokin Beau has won his last two races at Kempton.

Clearly in good heart, despite being now 11-years-old, this experienced speedster has excellent prospects of completing a hat-trick tomorrow over a course and distance where he has scored in the past.

In the saddle will be apprentice of the moment Kirsty Milczarek, who is riding winners galore at present and who completed a treble at Kempton last week.

Evergreen old-timer Nawamees (1.10) and the promising Moon Bound (1.45) are two others to note on the Lingfield card.

With tomorrow's scheduled jumping action at Newbury and Newcastle likely to struggle, given the forecast of further heavy rain, it's more worthwhile, at this stage, to cast a light over tomorrow's other Flat fixture at Kempton's evening meeting.

Ths Sunbury course will be a second port of call for Mark Johnston and Greg Fairley, and they are fancied to follow up their Lingfield success with Boomtown, courtesy of Silent Master in the kempton.co.uk Maiden Stakes.

A series of respectable efforts on the all-weather suggests its only a matter of time before this three-year-old opens his winning account. Opportunity could well come knocking for him here.

Thirsk trainer David Barron has pinpointed the digibet Sports Betting Handicap as a suitable target for Pietersen, who went down by two lengths to Smokin Joe over seven furlongs on this course last month.

Tomorrow's step up to a mile is fancied to suit Paul Fessey's mount even better.
