It's Grand National Day at Catterick tomorrow and King Killone is fancied to reign supreme.

Sponsored by Weatherbys Bank, the £10,000 North Yorkshire Grand National promises to be a competitive affair, but King Killone, trained at Stillington by Harry Hogarth, should make a bold bid in the hands of Phil KThis out-and-out stayer ran a sound race to finish third to Rambling Minster in the Scottish Borders Grand National at Kelso last month.

A reproduction of that form in this stamina test would stand him in excellent stead and he is expected to run a big race in the feature event.

Nicky Richards is having a quietish spell at present, but the Greystoke trainer has every chance of lifting the David Parry Racing Handicap Hurdle with Watch My Back.

This gelding opened his account over hurdles on this course last month and looks a progressive performer. In his first handicap tomorrow, he does not look at all badly treated.

Devils Delight (12.40) has been running well enough lately to warrant interest in the opening race, while Bob Woodhouse's promising Loch Oscaig (3.20) also makes appeal as he seeks a deserved success.

North Yorkshire rider Andrew Elliott heads to Wolverhampton tomorrow in a bid to add to his winning tally as a senior rider.

The 20-year-old Middleham-based jockey rode out his apprentices' allowance at Kempton last week and posted his first success as a fully-fledged rider when scoring on High Reach at Southwell on Tuesday.

Elliott, who is attached to Karl Burke's yard, teams up with Aggbag in the Dine In The Horizon Restaurant Handicap and Brian Baugh's four-year-old, a winner here a fortnight ago, when he overcame trouble in running, should take plenty of beating. He is awarded the nap vote.

Nimello is a seasoned campaigner, who knows all there is to know about racing and the 12-year-old can show his rivals a clean pair of heels in the Get Away At Pontin's Handicap.

Tony Newcombe's gelding made a promising return to action when filling the runner-up slot at Southwell a couple of weeks ago.

The Kevin Ryan-trained Grimes Faith (1.20), a winner at Southwell last week, can follow up under Neil Callan in the opening sprint, while Mark Johnston's promising Age Of Reason (3.30), winner of his only race to date, can double his score in handicap company. Greg Fairley has the mount on the three-year-old, who looks a potentially decent horse.
