FERGAL Lynch, cleared without charge in the well-documented High Court case into corruption in racing, which sensationally collapsed before Christmas, can pick up the threads of his career at Southwell tomorrow by returning to the winners' circle.

Lynch, unable to ride for more than a year while that case was being prepared, has had a handful of mounts since his licence was reinstated, but has yet to partner a winner.

The North Yorkshire jockey can put that right tomorrow on nap selection Godfrey Street, trained by Hambleton's Kevin Ryan, in the southwell-racecourse.co.uk Claiming Stakes.

A once smart sprinter, Godfrey Street proved that he still possesses a fair level of ability when finishing a close fourth in a competitive handicap on this course a couple of weeks ago.

Dropped in class tomorrow, Godfrey Street can come out on top over this five furlongs and put talented rider Lynch back in the winning groove.

Malton trainer Alan Brown placed Karmest to win on this course earlier this month and a double could well be on the cards for the four-year-old in the Book Your Tickets Online Apprentice Handicap.

Sand Cat, far from disgraced when finishing fourth to Bonnie Prince Blue here a fortnight ago, has winning prospects in the Southwell Racing And Golf Handicap.

Contra Mundum will not be short of supporters in the Book Your Hospitality Packages Classified Stakes.

Brendan Powell's well-bred gelding returned to action in spectacular style here last week when posting a wide-margin success. Hayley Turner, in the saddle on that occasion, has the mount again tomorrow and can steer this promising performer to a further victory.

At Wolverhampton's evening meeting, two horses have excellent chances of completing a hat-trick of wins.

Justcallmehandsome (6.50) has been in blinding form lately and a 6lb penalty may not stop the six-year-old's winning run in the opening apprentices' handicap.

Mafaheem (7.20) has likewise won his last two starts in the style of a horse at the top of his game. Andrew Haynes' gelding promises to be hard to beat once more in the capable hands of Tom Queally, especially on a course where he goes so well.

Musley Bank-based handler Richard Fahey sends Strathmore (7.50) to Wolverhampton for the Great Value Half Term Pontin's Handicap and the four-year-old will have the assistance of stable apprentice Jamie Moriarty.

Strathmore is not the easiest of horses to win with, but he came good at Southwell last time when getting home by a head from Bentley.

If he can reproduce his form on this quicker surface, he should make a bold bid to complete a double.
