Julie Camacho has a smart horse on her hands in Beat The Rush, who can underline his potential by figuring on the scoreboard tomorrow on the final day of York’s May Festival.

Beat The Rush, who runs in the Grand Hotel & Spa York Handicap, the closing race on the card, has strong claims on the strength of his emphatic success at Pontefract on his latest outing.

Having previously won on that course as a juvenile, the three-year-old won by four-and-a-half lengths on his latest outing and the handicapper has treated him fairly by raising him by only 5lb.

Obviously, a tougher task awaits him tomorrow, but Beat The Rush is a fast improving horse and he is napped to prove his burgeoning talent by gaining another success.

Tom Eaves, rider of Beat The Rush, can also land the sportingbet.com Jorvik Handicap on Thin Red Line.

Trained by Michael Dods, who sent out Kaptain Kirkup to win on the course under Eaves yesterday, Thin Red Line ran out a decisive winner at Chester last week. A 6lb penalty may not be enough to stop him from completing a quick double.

Richard Fahey has good prospects of taking the opening honours with Above The Stars in the Langley Solicitors Marygate Fillies’ Stakes.

A debut winner at Beverley last month, Paul Hanagan’s mount has bags of speed and this fast track should play to her strengths in this Listed contest.

Tomorrow’s feature event is the £140,000 Emirates Airline Yorkshire Cup, in which Manifest can provide Henry Cecil with another Knavesmire success after his Musidora triumph with Aviate yesterday.

Manifest, second to the classy Harbinger – a good winner again since – on his reappearance at Newbury, looks set for a useful campaign and, with Tom Queally on board, he is expected to make a bold bid in this prestigious staying contest.

Mick Easterby likes nothing better than a York winner and Hoof It makes appeal for the Sheriff Hutton trainer in the Ralph Raper Memorial Handicap.

The three-year-old did well to win at Beverley last week and he may be progressing well enough to defy a 6lb penalty on behalf of his two owners, international golfer Lee Westwood and his manager Chubby Chandler.

The useful Carioca gets the vote in the sportingbet.com Fillies’ Stakes, while Ingleby Lady, three times a winner last season for Thirsk trainer David Barron, is an interesting runner on her return to action in the sportingbet.com Handicap.

Graham Gibbons has the mount.

At Newbury, a note should be made of Society Rock (2.20), who overcame trouble in running to win in style at Ascot a couple of weeks ago.

James Fanshawe’s progressive three-year-old can follow up in this Listed affair and confirm her superiority over Corporal Maddox, who finished second to her last time.
