Tracy Waggott, who trains a small string of horses in County Durham, has her team in good form and Destinys Dream, who bolted up at Thirsk a couple of weeks ago, can oblige for her again at Catterick tomorrow.
A 6lb rise in rating hardly looks harsh for the five-year-old, who scored by three lengths from Red Kestrel on her latest outing, which came hot on the heels of two luckless placed efforts.
With Kelly Harrison, good value for her 3lb allowance, again in the saddle, Destinys Dream is napped to win the Scorton Handicap.
Nicky Richards may be much better known as a jumps trainer, but the Greystoke handler does well with his handful of Flat horses and That’ll Do Nicely is a case in point.
Not only did the gelding pay his way last season, but he made a winning reappearance on this course last month.
That’ll Do Nicely turns out again in the Leslie Petch Handicap and, with Norton jockey Tom Eaves in the saddle, should take all the beating on his favourite fast ground.
Foreign Rhythm may prove the best solution to the Racing Again On Saturday 29th May Apprentice Handicap.
Previously trained by Nigel Tinkler, the five-year-old is now with Ronnie Barr and made an encouraging debut for his new handler when finishing second to Desperate Dan at Redcar last time out.
It would be no surprise to see Foreign Rhythm step up to the number one slot in this five-furlong dash with the accomplished Dean Heslop in the saddle.
Tim Easterby, who continued his excellent start to the season with a double at Carlisle on Monday night, can add to his rising tally with Trading in the European Breeders’ Fund Maiden Stakes.
The two-year-old has shaped with promise in two outings to date, not least when finishing fourth to the useful Majestic Myles at Musselburgh last time out.
Miserere, trained by John Wainwright, may give Trading most to think about after a promising debut effort at Redcar recently.
Easterby can also strike at Musselburgh’s evening meeting with Jackday in the Rennies Of Dunfermline Handicap.
Although not the easiest of horses to win with, Jackday has more than enough ability to land a race of this nature and a reproduction of his close second at Ripon recently, when he travelled through the race like much the best horse, should be good enough to go one better in this event over one and three-quarter miles.
Lees Anthem (6.40), a recent course winner, and Camerooney (7.40) are two others to note in Scotland.
Camerooney is trained at Norton by Brian Ellison, who placed the gelding to win at Doncaster last month in a ladies’ race.
He has since finished a close-up second, after suffering minor interference, on this course. With Barry McHugh taking a handy 3lb off his back, Camerooney should make a bold assault.
