Norton trainer Tim Pitt takes a familiar route with Nothingbutthetruth this evening in the hope that his in-form gelding can complete a notable hat-trick of wins.

Following successes at Wetherby in April and in May, Nothingbutthetruth returns to the same course to bid to add to his tally in the Wetherby Racecourse & Conference Centre Handicap Chase.

The six-year-old’s latest victory was achieved by no less than 22 lengths and, while he has more on his plate tonight, Nothingbutthetruth, pictured with Pitt, will be hard to beat in the hands of Malton jockey Dougie Costello.

Brian Ellison, also based in Norton, can likewise figure among the winners at Wetherby.

Neptune Equester represents Ellison in the niddvale.co.uk Novices’ Chase and Keith Mercer’s mount is selected to supplement his recent course-and-distance success, which was gained by a decisive eight lengths.

King Of Castile (6.00), another recent course winner, trained in Wales by Evan Williams, and Valento (7.35), who ran out a ready winner at Ludlow last month for Kim Bailey, are two others to note on the seven-race card.

Switching to tomorrow’s action and pride of place goes to Epsom, where the £350,000 Investec Oaks is the centrepiece.

The fillies’ Classic looks a wide-open race and Sajjhaa is fancied to give Frankie Dettori a notable success.

Trained by Michael Jarvis, she only broke her maiden a couple of weeks ago, but she did so by a wide margin and in the style of a high-class performer.

She has been well backed this week into 6-1 and is clearly held in very high regard by connections who are prepared to pitch her into Group 1 company after just one public outing.

Tomorrow’s other Group 1 showpiece is the Investec Coronation Cup, in which Fame And Glory and Sariska cross swords in what promises to be a fascinating clash.

Fame And Glory, last year’s Irish Derby hero and winner of his last two races, just gets the vote over Sariska, who completed the English-Irish Oaks double last year and who recently underlined her well-being with a win in the Musidora Stakes at York.

At Catterick tomorrow, the nap vote is awarded to Real Diamond (4.45), who looks to be coming to hand after two runs this season for Ollie Pears. A course-and-distance winner last season, Real Diamond can make it third-time-lucky.

The in-form Verinco (3.00) and course specialist Turn Me On (3.35) are two others to note at the North Yorkshire course.
