David O’Meara, who on Saturday trained his first-ever winner at York only a month after receiving his licence, can work the oracle at Beverley tomorrow with a prolific loser.

Fashion Icon has gone 23 races without once getting her head in front, but the four-year-old is not only tipped but napped to win the second division of the Yorkshire Racing Summer Festival Starts Saturday Handicap over five furlongs.

On her latest two starts over this same course and distance, Fashion Icon has run very creditable races to be beaten three lengths, both times from very poor outside draws.

Tomorrow, she is drawn just one place off the favoured inside rail and is taken to capitalise with a long overdue first career win.

O’Meara, who has made a bright start to his training career from his base at Nawton, near Helmsley, was successful on Knavesmire on Saturday with Christmas Light, a victory which came a week after he had a Beverley double. The Westwood course is expected to provide the former jump jockey with another moment of victory tomorrow.

Paul Hanagan is scarcely out of the news at present, courtesy of a blitz of winners which has enabled him to streak clear in the jockeys’ championship.

The Malton rider is now odds-on to take the title, which will be concluded in the first week of November.

Tomorrow, Hanagan can add to his cause by completing a double on Cono Zur and Handsome Falcon.

The former won a selling race for Mark Johnston at Redcar recently by nine lengths and was subsequently sold to Stillington trainer Ruth Carr. She runs him tomorrow in the Aunty Eve Apple Claiming Stakes and Cono Zur should take plenty of beating.

Handsome Falcon finished a good fourth to Stonehaugh on this course recently and the Richard Fahey-trained gelding, twice a winner here, has every chance of stepping up to the number one slot in the Happy Birthday Phillip Megginson Handicap, especially if he can get the run of the race up front.

The £18,000 Watt Memorial Handicap takes pride of place on the Beverley programme and My Arch, despite being off the track for six weeks, makes plenty of appeal.

Ollie Pears’ talented stayer, a Musselburgh winner earlier this season, ran well to finish second at Ripon and Haydock.

At Ayr today, Valantino Oyster is napped to win the victorchandler.com Apprentice Handicap.

Howard Johnson’s three-year-old landed some good bets when successful at Redcar on his recent reappearance. With the accomplished Dale Swift in the saddle, he can defy a 7lb higher mark in this ten furlong event.

The promising Bahamian Sunset (2.00) and the in-form Mejd (4.00) are two others to note in Scotland.
