Wooton Bassett, who made a winning debut at Ayr last month, can underline his undoubted potential by following up at Doncaster tomorrow evening.

Trained by Richard Fahey, and the mount of Paul Hanagan, the talented juvenile runs in the ESG Novice Stakes and is napped to double his score.

A son of Iffraj, Wooton Bassett made a very pleasing debut in Scotland, beating Easy Mover, who was well fancied, in workmanlike style after the pair had drawn five lengths clear of the remainder.

A stiffer test awaits Wooton Bassett tomorrow, but this useful colt is taken to come through this exam with flying colours.

Hanagan can also score on That’ll Do Nicely and The Caped Crusader.

That’ll Do Nicely, trained by Nicky Richards, has won his last two races, at Ayr and Newcastle. It would be no surprise to see him complete a hat-trick.

The Caped Crusader, bought cheaply out of Tom Tate’s yard, ran with considerable promise on his debut for Ollie Pears at Haydock last month when beaten only half a length by Aktia.

He should have benefited from that outing and, with Hanagan booked for the mount this time, he should make a bold bid in the P & A Partnership Handicap.

The Esquires Coffee Wheatley Retail Park Conditions Stakes is the feature race on the card and, although there are nagging question marks about every runner in the race, Yamal is taken to shrug off his defeat when favourite at Hamilton last month. He may just have needed that race and is taken to go one better under Frankie Dettori.

At Hamilton’s afternoon meeting, Martin Lane, who enjoyed the biggest success of his career when winning the John Smith’s Cup at York last Saturday, can win the Always Trying Open Maiden Stakes on Ashbrittle.

Ralph Beckett’s three-year-old failed by only a head at Salisbury on his reappearance. A reproduction of that form should see her involved in the finish.

The Bear, a winner at Ayr on Monday, turns out again in the hamilton-park.co.uk Claiming Stakes.

Malton jockey Tony Hamilton again takes the mount on the gelding, trained by Linda Perratt, who also saddles Distant Sun and Mandarin Spirit – both with chances – in the same race.

Tim Easterby does not send horses to Scotland without careful thought and Revue Princess can make her journey from Great Habton worthwhile by winning the Hamilton Park Ladies Night Handicap.

The five-year-old failed by only three-parts of a length to beat the speedy Comptonspirit at Warwick two weeks ago.

Previously successful at Leicester, opportunity is fancied to come knocking for her again tomorrow.
