Rascal In The Mix, a horse previously plagued with stomach ulcers, goes for a hat-trick of wins at Redcar tomorrow with her favourite rider Amy Ryan on board.

Trained near Leeds by Richard Whitaker, the four-year-old got off the mark at Thirsk and last week followed up at Chester in a novel race – a fillies’ and mares’ event, confined to female riders, all wearing pink colours, to raise funds and awareness for Breast Cancer.

Ryan, daughter of Hambleton trainer Kevin, has ridden Rascal In The Mix to both her recent wins.

The handicapper has raised the North Yorkshire performer 4lb for her latest success, which does not look prohibitive to her chances in the Help For Heroes And Yorkshire Regiment Fillies’ Handicap.

Paul Hanagan heads across the North York Moors from his Malton home with six rides at Redcar. Among them is likely to be a winner or two.

In the Yorkshire Radio Handicap, Hanagan teams up with Sir Nod for Norton trainer Julie Camacho.

Runner-up to Gap Princess at Catterick on her latest start, Sir Nod may not have to improve much on that form to go one better.

Sharp Eclipse is Hanagan’s mount in the Sky Bet Supporting Yorkshire Summer Racing Festival Handicap.

Kevin Ryan’s sprinter is overdue a winning turn, having finished second in his last three starts at Beverley, Hamilton and on this course. Opportunity may come knocking this time.

Hanagan has a couple of other promising chances – on Richard Fahey’s juvenile newcomer Ollon (2.10), a son of Mr Greeley, and Tres Froide (5.20), a previous course winner trained by Nigel Tinkler.

David O’Meara, with six winners in a month, has made a tremendous start to his training career from his Nawton base near Helmsley.

The former jump jockey has good prospects of adding to his tally with King’s Counsel (2.40), already a course winner this season, and Drop The Hammer (5.50), who came close to success at Catterick on her latest start when she failed by less than a length to beat Film Festival.

O’Meara has secured the services of the accomplished John Fahy to ride Drop The Hammer in tomorrow’s apprentices’ race, and the partnership is awarded the nap vote.

Over the sticks at Stratford, prolific winner Tout Regulier (2.20) and the in-form Presentandcorrect (3.20) are both worthy of respect.
