Richard Fahey, who has dominated the trainers’ leader-board at York in recent years, can consolidate his position tomorrow with a treble.

The Malton trainer, on the verge of saddling his 100th winner of the turf campaign, is fancied to score with Blaze Of Thunder, Valery Borzov and Common Touch.

Valery Borzov goes for the £50,000 Sky Bet Dash, which Fahey won 12 months ago with Knot In Wood, one of his long-time stable stars.

Valery Borzov, previously trained by David Nicholls, joined Fahey this term. Although he has yet to trouble the judge in three outings, he was far from disgraced in mid-division at Royal Ascot last month when beaten eight lengths in the Wokingham Handicap run on ground faster than he prefers.

Tomorrow’s expected easier surface should suit Valery Borzov even better and he is fancied to return to winning form. Significantly, Paul Hanagan, Fahey’s number one jockey, rides Valery Borzov.

Blaze Of Thunder can get the Fahey-Hanagan combination off to a good start by bagging the skypoker.com Nursery.

A winner on his second and latest start at Haydock, Blaze Of Thunder looks progressive. He reverts from six furlongs to five tomorrow, and, provided he can cope with the minimum distance, he should take plenty of beating.

Common Touch can provide Fahey and Hanagan with a third winner on the card in the skyvegas.com Median Auction Maiden Stakes.

Victory for this son of Compton Place would go down well at York as he is half-owned by Nicholas Wrigley, the course chairman.

Bushman, winner of both his races this season, is selected to complete a hat-trick in the richest race on the card, the £100,000 Sky Bet York Stakes.

Frankie Dettori, aboard Allybar in the Sky Bet York Stakes, can win the skybet.com Fillies’ Stakes on Viewing.

At Ascot, all eyes will be on the £1 million King George VI And Queen Elizabeth Stakes, in which Workforce, runaway winner of the Epsom Derby, crosses swords with Irish Derby winner Cape Blanco, the pair having previously finished first and second (Cape Blanco in front) in York’s Dante Stakes.

Sir Michael Stoute, trainer of Workforce, is also represented by Harbinger, winner of all his three races this term, and my pick to win this crackerjack race.
