A CLASSY display from Nouriya helped jockey Ryan Moore on his way to a double at York Racecourse.
The 7-4 favourite, trained by Sir Michael Stoute, took the Listed EBF Lyric Stakes with aplomb – making her challenge a long way from home and staying on strongly in the £40,000 one-and-a-quarter mile contest.
It was Bikini Babe, trained by Middleham’s Mark Johnston, who took them into the home straight at a busy pace but, once Nouriya hit the front with two furlongs remaining, she rarely looked like losing her grip.
A length-and-a-half was the verdict over Mudaaraah, with Totally Ours in third.
Moore said: “She’s a nice progressive filly, we’ve always thought a lot about her and she is just starting to fulfil her potential.”
Earlier, he had given Thirsk trainer David Barron a winner when getting La Zamora home in the Seddon Property Services Stakes.
