ROBIN Bastiman says he will know more later this week about the injury which has ruled Borderlescott out of the Coolmore Nunthorpe Stakes at York Racecourse, writes Steve Carroll.

The Cowthorpe trainer has pulled his star out of the contest on August 20 after he went lame following a brilliant victory in the Audi King George Stakes at Glorious Goodwood last week.

The eight-year-old, who has won 13 races and won the last two runnings of the Nunthorpe, has had a scan and Bastiman is set to find out the results on Thursday.

He said: “It is the muscle in between his hip and down to his stifle. He will have box rest and he won’t run again this year.

“We were elated for 15 minutes (following the race) and then down in the dumps. It’s a nightmare. We had just got him right for the Nunthorpe.”
