TIM EASTERBY, enjoying his best season for many a year, can add to his growing tally of winners at Haydock tomorrow by completing a double.

The Great Habton trainer sends Residence And Spa across the Pennines to contest the opening Dave Tatlock Maiden Auction Stakes and the two-year-old is napped to open his winning account.

Residence And Spa has finished in the frame in all his three starts this term, most recently at Redcar when he finished third to Next Edition.

Residence And Spa is owned by Jim McGrath, well-known as a pundit on Channel 4 racing, and an owner who has enjoyed a fine campaign so far. With Paul Hanagan booked for the mount, Residence And Spa can carry McGrath’s pink colours to victory.

Easterby, who is fast closing on 60 winners this season, can also score with Offspring in the Help For Heroes Handicap over six furlongs.

The three-year-old won in fine style at Ripon on her latest start, putting almost three lengths between herself and her rivals.

A rise of 5lb looks very fair for that fluent success and she is fancied to follow up here.

In the Aaron Moon Novice Fillies’ Stakes, Nordic Spruce can further her reputation by making it two-from-two for trainer Henry Cecil.

Tom Queally’s mount made a winning debut at Nottingham when winning by a neck. There looks to be more to come from here and this looks a suitable stepping stone for Nordic Spruce to bag another win.

David O’Meara has already chalked up ten winners since taking out a licence in mid-June and the Nawton trainer has good prospects of figuring in the shake-up of the £12,500 Betfred Handicap with Christmas Light.

A York winner two starts back in maiden company, Christmas Light has since run well in a Knavesmire handicap when she may have been inconvenienced by not giving enough cover as the race unfolded in the straight.

There may be more to come from her and, if so, the North Yorkshire filly can play a part in this one-miler.

Richard Fahey brings out Layla’s Dancer quickly after the three-year-old finished third at Chester on Sunday.

A poor draw did Layla’s Dancer no favours on the Roodee, where the ease in the ground suited him. Similar underfoot conditions are likely tomorrow and the Malton colt is taken to lift the fivestarappeal.co.uk Handicap and provide Paul Hanagan with another winner.

At Sandown’s evening meeting, Richard Hannon and Richard Hughes, who took Goodwood by storm last week with nine winners, can prove the combination to follow once again.

The duo are represented in the opening Clare Morum Memorial Maiden Fillies’ Stakes by Piece Of Mind.

Also worth noting are Drift And Dream (6.10) and Mortbet (7.55).
