Jump racing, which was relegated to the sidelines by the atrocious weather, is set to return to North Yorkshire today, and Tim Easterby is poised to captialise by figuring among the winners.

Easterby proved his horses are in good form at Southwell on Saturday when 25-1 shot Malcheek won the feature race.

Fourjacks, sadly, won’t be sent off at similar odds in the Book Racecourse Hospitality National Hunt Flat Race, but this highly promising five-year-old is fancied to score at Catterick.

Owned by Trevor Hemmings, Fourjacks made his debut at Kelso last month and, backed down to 4-1 second favourite, he ran a fine race to finish runner-up to Dark Glacier, trained by Chris Grant and, coincidentally, also owned by Hemmings.

Fourjacks should have learned plenty from that outing and, with Richie McGrath in the saddle, the Great Habton gelding is selected to go one better.

Tim Walford is another North Yorkshire trainer with good prospects of a Catterick winner, courtesy of What’s Occurrin in the Wensley Amateur Riders’ Handicap Hurdle.

The six-year-old posted a gritty effort to win at Carlisle in October, and was far from disgraced, despite finishing unplaced, when fifth at Towcester next time out, when he may have gone off a little too fast for his own good.

Mark Walford, assistant to his father Tim at Sheriff Hutton, and a very accomplished amateur rider, takes the mount on What’s Occurrin, who should make a bold bid.

Borders trainer James Ewart has double prospects with Si Bien (12.45), who shaped well to finish third on his chasing debut at Carlisle, and Super Baby (2.45). The latter seems to like Catterick, having gained two of his three career wins on this course.

Carpincho (1.15) promises to take a lot of beating under Denis O’Regan in the novices’ hurdle.

A winner of a bumper here last January, Carpincho made his hurdling bow at Sedgefield last month and turned the race into a complete procession, winning by a massive 46 lengths.

At Lingfield tomorrow, the nap vote is awarded to Dubai Crest in the totesport.com Handicap. The Amanda Perrett-trained four-year-old failed by only a short head to score at Kempton last week.

In-form Dream Of Fortune (12.05) catches the eye in the opener.
