Kieren Fallon, currently dividing his riding time between Britain and Dubai, has been snapped up by North Yorkshire trainer Kevin Ryan at Kempton tomorrow in the hope that the multiple champion jockey can work the oracle on the luckless Breathless Kiss.
On her last two visits to Kempton, Breathless Kiss has been beaten a neck on both occasions.
Runner-up two starts back when she missed the break after her blindfold was removed slightly late, the three-year-old seemed unsuited by the muddling early gallop last time out when she was narrowly beaten into third place.
Ryan has dropped Breathless Kiss back from six furlongs to the minimum trip for tomorrow’s Win A Kia Venga At kempton.co.uk Handicap and with Fallon taking over, the Hambleton filly is napped to finally get her head in front.
Fallon also has good prospects aboard Norman Orpen, trained by Jane Chapple-Hyam and bidding for a hat-trick of wins in the Racing At skysports.com Handicap.
But preference here is for Private Joke, who has been rerouted to Kempton, having been denied a winning opportunity at yesterday’s abandoned Wolverhampton meeting.
It was at Wolverhampton that Private Joke, trained by John Gosden, got off the mark a fortnight ago. That was only his second outing in maiden company and there was a lot to like about the style of his victory.
He now tackles handicap company for the first time and, while he may be lacking in experience, he possesses plenty of potential. With Nicky Mackay on board, he is fancied to have the edge over Norman Orpen, and the rest of his rivals.
Corsican Boy bids to recover losses in the digibet.com Maiden Stakes after being a beaten favourite here four weeks ago.
Roger Charlton’s colt finished third on that occasion, but was beaten little more than a length on what was his first outing since his promising debut at Newmarket in July.
The likelihood is that Corsican Boy will have benefited from his latest race and, if so, he should take plenty of beating this time around.
The in-form New Code (5.25) and the lightly-raced One Oi (6.55), who shaped with real promise behind Indian Violet last time out at Lingfield, are two others to consider.
Know No Fear is worthy of attention in the Edenbridge Apprentice Handicap at Lingfield tomorrow.
The five-year-old failed by only half a length to get the better of The Winged Assasin at Wolverhampton on his latest start. Here, he’s back over a course and distance where he has been successful in the past.
Fantasy Gladiator goes for a hat-trick of wins in the featured Marriott Breathe Spa Handicap.
Robert Cowell’s gelding has won his last two races at Kempton in the manner of a horse who is at the top of his game. He now has to prove himself at Lingfield, having gone up 7lb for his latest success. With Jimmy Quinn on board, he should go well.
Private Equity (12.35), a creditable second at Wolverhampton earlier in the month, and Feelin Foxy (2.35), who has been running well lately, are two other names to note.
