Amadeus Denton, who looked an unlucky loser on his debut at Thirsk a fortnight ago, can gain compensation at Doncaster this evening.
Trained near Darlington by Michael Dods, the two-year-old runs in the Beaver84 Hire & Sales Maiden Stakes with Freddie Tylicki again taking the mount.
Amadeus Denton failed by only a length to get the better of Profile Star at Thirsk and might well have prevailed had the winner not carried him across the course in the final furlong. After a stewards’ inquiry, the placings were allowed to stand.
No matter the outcome, Amadeus Denton ran a race full of promise first time and, assuming he has benefited from that outing, he should take all the beating tonight.
Tim Easterby has good prospects of a double on the Doncaster card with Another Citizen and Grissom.
The former looks to be coming to hand and finished second to Bosambo (watch out for him reappearing in the last race on the card) on this course last month. He should make a good fist of things in his bid to land his second career success under Duran Fentiman, in the Multifab Metals Engineering & Fabrication Handicap.
Grissom, also the mount of Fentiman, and also runner-up on his latest outing, likewise has strong claims in the CMEC Handicap over six furlongs. Any rain will further increase his chances.
North Yorkshire trainers look likely to play a dominant role throughout the evening on Town Moor. Also worth noting are Brian Ellison’s Dar Es Salaam (6.00), the Tim Walford-trained Diablo Dancer (7.40), who looked a very unlucky loser at Hamilton last week, and Alan Swinbank’s aforementioned recent course winner Bosambo (8.40).
At Ripon tomorrow, Kay Gee Be can continue Richard Fahey’s excellent run of success by winning the featured Ripon, Yorkshire’s Garden Racecourse Handicap over a mile.
A Windsor winner on his reppearance, Kay Gee Be has since finished an excellent fourth in good company at Newmarket.
He should be a tough nut to crack in the hands of Tony Hamilton, standing in for Paul Hanagan, who will be on Classic duty in France tomorrow aboard Wootton Bassett in the French 2,000 Guineas.
Fahey and Hamilton can also win the juvenile seller with Spiders Of Spring (2.40), while Tim Pitt, who saddled a winner at York this week, has good prospects of further glory with Kerry’s Requiem (3.10).
Formerly trained by Mick Channon and a winner at Goodwood last summer, this speedy five-year-old looks well weighted and has the extra advantage of Sean Levey's 3lb claim.
Oneofapear (4.10), a winner here last season, and Tim Easterby’s Senate Majority (5.10), narrowly beaten at Musselburgh last time out, are two others to keep on the right side.
