Parc de Launay, who created a good impression when making a winning debut at Ripon last month, can fulfil that promise tomorrow on the first of three days of racing at Newcastle, which climaxes on Saturday with the Northumberland Plate.
Trained at Hazelwood near Tadcaster by Tom Tate, Parc de Launay overcame greenness to win first time out, a victory which did not seem to come as any surprise to Tate, who had clearly identified him as a youngster with a good future.
Two from two looks likely in the tradersbettingexchange.co.uk Novice Stakes. Jamie Spencer again has the mount.
A stylish win in the opener by Parc de Launay would go some way to highlighting the chances of Come Hither in the following Coopers Marquees Maiden Stakes.
Trained by Mick Easterby, Come Hither finished fourth to Parc de Launay at Ripon and was spotted doing all his best work in the closing stages. This stiffer course should suit him even better and the youngster from Sheriff Hutton should run a big race.
Richard Fahey seems to have a strong hand in the featured Seaton Delaval Handicap with Extraterrestial and Arabian Spirit in the line-up.
These two finished sixth and seventh respectively in a hot handicap at Epsom last time out and there promises to be precious little to choose between them again. Marginal preference is for Extraterrestrial, who had trotted up at Thirsk on his outing prior to Epsom.
Brian Ellison saddles nap selection John Forbes in the LA Taxis Handicap over two miles and this recent Doncaster winner has plenty going for him, not least the fact he enters this race without a penalty.
Previously a good fourth at York, John Forbes is a former winner on this course and he hails from a stable in outstanding form.
Tim Easterby has double prospects with Guinea Seeker (5.05), a good third at Ripon last time, and Rosbay (5.40), a former course winner, who was unsuited by the way the race was run at Ripon last time.
At Hamilton’s evening meeting, Miss Blink goes for a hat-trick in the Taggarts Motor Group Handicap.
Robin Bastiman’s charge has won her last two races at Newcastle and Yarmouth.
Carrie’s Magic makes plenty of appeal in the Wanted And Westlife Live In July Sprint Handicap.
Comfortable winner of a claiming race on this course three weeks ago, Carries Magic joined Alistair Whillans from David Barron after changing hands following that race.
She can make her mark in this handicap, with Garry Whillans reducing her weight by a handy 7lb.
